Drug Information

Nicotinell gum, lozenges and transdermal patches contains nicotine, the main active substance in cigarette and tobacco products. Nicotine is a highly addictive compound found naturally in tobacco. It acts both as a stimulant and a depressant on the central nervous system. Nicotine can stimulate the brain to release epinephrine, which causes a brief state of relaxation and contentment, commonly referred to as a “high.”
