FML Forte (Fluorometholone)

Description

Fluorometholone, simply known as FML Forte is a medication that is used to treat eye conditions that are caused as a result of inflammation or injury. It is a corticosteroid that is commonly used to treat problems that concern the eye and eyelids.

How it works

Although it is not precisely known how this medication works, researchers state that it works by reducing inflammation since the medication belongs to the class of corticosteroids.

Its uses

Application

Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye. This will prevent any possible contamination. Tilt your head back, look up and pull the lower eyelid. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and put in one drop for each eye. Gently close your eyes and keep them that way for 1-3 minutes.

Side effects

 Temporary burning
 Taste changes
 Soreness in the eye
 Swelling and itchiness in the eye

You might also experience allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, rashes, difficulty in breathing and hives. It is best to consult your physician in case of these side effects since they can severely affect your vision if not treated at the correct time.

Precautions

 Do not wear contact lenses when using this medication since the preservatives in the medication can be absorbed by the medication.
 If you are using any other type of drops or ointments for your eye, wait at least for 10 minutes before you apply them.
 Do not use the medication longer than what is prescribed. Overusing will not accelerate the results but will only increase the risk of side effects.
 If the drops change color, it means that it is contaminated. In this case, stop using it immediately since using contaminated medication can cause infection and even result in loss of vision.
 Do not rub, scratch or even touch your eyes after applying the drops since it can affect the effectiveness of the medication and result in itchiness or swelling.
