Description
Evista, also commonly known as Raloxifene, is a medication used to treat osteoporosis that occurs as a result of menopause. This medication can also reduce the likelihood of developing dangerous conditions such as breast cancer.
How it Works
Evista belongs to a group of drugs known as selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs). It is important to understand that Evista is not an estrogen hormone. However, it can act similar to estrogen in some parts of a female’s body, especially amongst the bones. In certain other parts of the body, such as in the breasts and uterus, this medication blocks estrogen. This medication can reduce the speed of bone loss by making them stronger and reducing their tendency to break.
Uses
The main use of this medication is its ability to treat bone problems that occur during and after menopause.
Conditions such as osteoporosis can not only be treated but can be prevented through the use of this drug too. The medication makes your bones stronger and less vulnerable to damage. It is important to note that this medication can only treat problems related to bones. Evista will not treat other symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes.

This medication must only be taken once a day on a daily basis. It can be taken with or without food depending on personal preference.
