Generally, your doctor will prescribe this medication in powder form. When taking this medication, you should measure the required dosage and sprinkle the medication on any food that you are eating. It is recommended to consume the powder with foods such as pudding or applesauce.
If your doctor does provide you with the capsule form, you should take the capsule with plenty of water.
In terms of storage, Depakote should be stored at room temperature and kept away from any heat or moisture that can ruin the substance.
Depakote Side Effects
There are two types of side effects that you may experience with Depakote: severe side effects and common side effects. If you suffer from any of the following severe side effects, then you should seek medical attention immediately and contact your doctor:
Severe drowsiness
Exacerbated seizures

Confusion

Missing a Dose or Overdosing

Other Concerns
When taking Depakote, there are a few other concerns that you should be aware of. This medication is not compatible with alcohol, as it can lead to side effects. It is also recommended that you avoid driving or sitting under the sun for a prolonged period of time.
