Cozaar (Losartan)

Description

Cozaar is an ARB used to treat high blood pressure. It is more generally known as Losartan in the medical industry. The medication is also effective in treating a number of other serious illnesses including heart failure.

As an Angiotensin Receptor Blocker (ARB), this medication relaxes blood vessels and enables blood to flow through more fluidly. By keeping the vessels from narrowing, it results in a healthier and uninterrupted blood circulation system.

Dosage

 

The drug can be taken with or without food as long as it is not consumed more than once a day. Precautions

 This medication must not be consumed if you are already taking medications that contain Aliskiren.

 

 Do not stop taking the medication abruptly since it can result in severe health consequences.

 

 Always store the medication away from moist and heat at normal room temperature.

 If you become pregnant during the treatment period, inform your healthcare provider immediately since this drug can affect the health of your baby.

 

Self care

 

It will take at least 4-5 weeks for this medication to work. During this period, it is your responsibility to check your blood pressure regularly to ensure that the mediation is working. Even if you feel fine, keep consuming the medicine until your physician asks you to stop.

 

If you experience vomiting, diarrhea or excessive sweating during the treatment period, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible. These effects can result in dehydration which in turn can lower your blood pressure or cause an electrolyte imbalance.
