Description
Acticin is a topical agent that belongs to a family of medications known as pyrethrins. The primary ingredient in this drug is permethrin.
Uses
Acticin is used to treat individuals who have contracted Sarcoptes scabiei. This condition is also known as scabies. It is a contagious ailment that can be transferred through person to person contact. Scabies are caused by certain insects that are known as mites. These mites invade the surface of the skin, causing irritation. The primary symptoms of scabies is inflamed skin and excessive itching. Continued itching can cause secondary infections in people who already have scabies.
Acticin is a type of drug that is known as scabicide. It works by paralyzing the mites on the skin. The medication then kills the mites as well as the eggs that have laid on the surface of the skin.

Dosage
It is important to for you to stick to your physician’s prescription at all times. It is best not to apply Acticin in amounts that are lesser or greater than has been instructed by your doctor.
This medication is to be applied on the surface of the skin.
For adults, this treatment should be massaged thoroughly into the skin. The application of Acticin should begin and the forehead and continue until the soles of the feet. This medication can be removed between eight and fourteen hours after it has been applied. It can be removed by bathing.
For children, the treatment should be applied to the brow, hairline, neck, and temple. The medication should remain on the skin for eight to fourteen hours. It can be removed by washing.
One application of Acticin is typically adequate to get rid of the scabies. If the infestation has not been killed, you can reapply the medication in about two weeks.
Side Effects
Consuming this medication can result in a number of side effects. The following are some of them.
Burning sensation on the skin
Irritation of the skin
Presence of rash on the skin
Inflammation of the skin
Pricking sensation of the skin
Swelling
Unusual sensations on the scalp

Contraindications
If you get pregnant during the treatment period, make sure to inform your doctor immediately. Your physician must be informed as soon as you begin breastfeeding your child too.
Acticin must not be consumed if you are allergic to any of the ingredients included in the drug.
You should have an internal of at least seven days before you reapply Acticin to your body.
Do not use this medication on children who are below the age of two months.
Inform your doctor if you wish to use any another topical agent along with Acticin. You may not be safe to use other topical medications while using Acticin.
You have to inform your healthcare provider about your current use of medications. This includes prescription drugs, over the counter drugs and herbal supplements.
